Calgary is home to a large number of Parks and expansive green areas. With over 1200 kilometers of walking and cycling paths, you'll find yourself often beside the Bow or Elbow River. In south Calgary you can visit Fish Creek Provincial Park where you often spot deer or elk grazing on the grassland. Nose Hill Park in north Calgary has been left untouched so you can imagine what the homesteaders must have seen when Calgary was first settled.

& Stampede

Yahoo! The Calgary Exhibition and Stampede brings the wild west into the big city. Labeled as "The Greatest Outdoor Show On Earth", the Calgary Stampede creates a down home country party atmosphere that permeates the city for the entire 10 days of the Stampede. From the first Stampede in 1912, the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede has grown from a rodeo to a huge exhibition, featuring artists from around the world, free flapjack breakfasts throughout the city, and lots of country dancing.

Golf Courses

Calgary is a young city. This has created the opportunity for the city to develop, in its overall plan, a number of great public golf courses. Surrounding Calgary there are many places to enjoy nature. The Discover Alberta website has information on national parks, hiking, and many other Alberta attractions


Rail Tours

If you love watching the scenery whiz by and the clickity clackity sounds of rails, don't miss out on Heartland Rail Tours . Stettler, a three hour drive from Calgary, is the starting point to an adventure. From mid May to October you can spend an exciting a day (4 - 8 hours) aboard a real steam-powered train. Different themes are enacted throughout the season.


Royal Tyrrell


Or maybe dinosaurs are up your alley. Alberta has some of the most extensive dinosaur fossil deposits in the world. The Royal Tyrrell Museum, located two hours east of Calgary.
